Work continues on the Sesuit Harbor Cape House. The plaster work is in progress and the special 9′-9″ slider by Andersen arrived on site and is installed. The addition of the slider and new Marvin windows open up the southeast corner of the house to the backyard, making it a focal point of the first floor living room, dining room, and kitchen. The clients wanted to retain the memory of the existing house by keeping the brick fireplace. An existing fireplace is typically a very leaky moment in a house – a gas insert with additional insulation was proposed to retain this architectural feature of the home, but make the space as energy efficient as possible. The gas insert should be on site and installed in the next few weeks. We are looking forward to Home Energy Raters, LLC coming out to the site and blower door testing the house. Horgan Associates Design Build and Frontier Energy Solutions worked intensely to insulate this existing previously non-insulated cottage from the 1960s.
