Lincoln Net Zero Blower Door, Insulation, & Drywall

DSC_1410 Home Energy Raters tested the Lincoln Net Zero Home this past week.  The house was insulated in March with all cellulose insulation.  The floors are R:45, the walls -R:35, and the roof r:50.  The midpoint blower door test showed +/- 0.75 air changes per hour.  This was an awesome number to get back midway through the project.  A code built home is allowed 7 ACH per hour – The German passive house (ultra efficient standard) is 0.6 ACH. Mark Goetemann and A3 walked through the house as it was being pressurized and looked for leakage points.  Several were found at the windows – Mark and his team went to work caulking these weak points.  He was confident after the test that we had pinpointed the weak areas and has plans to do informal blower door tests in the future to assure that those moments have been fixed.
